  The Anne Report

The Anne Report

Dear ,

As always, it was illuminating visiting my grandchildren on Saturday. We spent the day playing and watching a TV show, Aquanauts. I did not know about the coconut octopus, which use coconut shells as camouflage, nor did I know about cone snails. Cone snails, cone shells, or cone are a large group of small-to-large-sized extremely venomous predatory sea snails. Who knew? Where I can use this information remains to be seen.

I told Thomas and Reynolds a story about a make-believe python, Elmer Pepper, who is a part of my made-up stories about the Hoppy, the Poppy Frog family. I make up these stories on the spot and never really know where they are going. Elmer Pepper visited a chocolate factory during off hours. Since the door was locked, he had to crawl through the chimney to get in. He ate so much food that he was too big to fit though the chimney on his way out. I asked the boys, “Do you know what a python looks like, when he has eaten a lot of food?” Thomas says “Yes,” as he runs to get a book to show me a picture of a python. He breathlessly shares, “A Burmese python is the strongest python in the world. He squeezes the breath out of his prey until they die. Then they are still, and he can eat them.” He finds the book and shows me pictures of a python killing and eating an alligator.

Thomas was over the moon to tell me about their new cereal, Choco Chimps. “When you buy Choco Chimps, they give part of the money to save the animals. But don’t worry, Grand MaMa, they are not made out of real chimps!”

Modern Day Mystic

Last week, I was happy to find I had several days of free time. No appointments; no pressing tasks. I was excited about organizing the garage. Then my friend, Karen, sent a notice about an upcoming seminar, “The Mystic Summit.” As with so many things, I thought, “That sounds great.” I knew I would forget. It was one of those “interesting; I might get around to it,” moments. Monday, I thought about the conference and looked up the starting time. It began in ten minutes. “How fortuitous. I will watch for a few minutes. So, there I sat for five days, laughing, crying, and drinking in perennial wisdom and contemporary insights from ancient and modern-day mystics.

Now I take the train off the rails, with a different thought. It amazes me, this universal magical calendar, the one that arranges my daily schedule to allow me to do what serves me for the day, week, or even the month. It is a cosmic plan, and it pays attention to our expectations. When we expect flow, flow increases in our lives. When we expect difficulties and hardships, they come as well, though often they reside in our perception of events, rather than in the events themselves. Our wounds sit on the edge of their seats, just waiting for a moment of despair, so they can jump in and take over. We call that the human condition, one of suffering, but, as you know, there is a mode of suffering that is made up.

Now, back on track. When we think of mystics, we often think of people from the past, probably three hundred years ago, yet I beg to differ. What is a mystic and who qualifies? The title of my first book, which came out 24 years ago, was Offbeat Prayers for the Modern Mystic. The title came in a flash. The word “mystic” was not common to my everyday thoughts, and, at the time, it still conjured up images of Meister Eckhart and Teresa of Avila. As with all my titles, I asked the title, Offbeat Prayers for the Modern Mystic, why it should represent my book. The response, “A mystic is someone who communes directly with the Divine. A mystic needs no intermediary and listens to that deep voice of knowing. These prayers go straight to the heart.” That was enough for me; thus, the title of my first book was firmly established. After that, the word mystic took on a new meaning; it became a contemporary word, not one to be attributed to times gone by.

There is a revolution of the heart occurring. People look for the second coming of a messiah, but mystics know that the second coming has occurred and is occurring. Godlike qualities are emerging among the least of us. We need not wait for angels in the sky. We are those angels, and many angels walk among us. They are the mystics; they are the way showers. Maybe I should say, “we.” We do not need to use the word mystic to puff up our narcissistic tendencies, yet we do not need to marginalize the deep wisdom that clamors to arise from within. Maybe you know this inner voice, this pull, this calling, and if you do, you have the ability to rise in life as a mystic. All are chosen, and when we chose to listen, our lives become EZier and EZier.

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight video for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches those videos becomes a part of the prosperity team.
