Most of us struggle
with weight gain and fat gain as we age, hence the appearance - or spreading - of belly fat, love handles, flabby underarms (or “bat wings”), and a growing waistline you can’t seem to get rid of - no matter how much you diet or exercise.
That’s because THREE key things happen as you age:
[1] Fat naturally “moves” to all the wrong places
A natural shift in fat distribution occurs after 40 in large part due to inevitable fluctuations in hormones…
That’s why even ACTIVE men and women suddenly see fat build-up around their abdomen, hips, and waist
after a certain age.
[2] Fat cells behave differently as you age
Did you know there are different types of fat? And each act differently inside the body. White fat is stored fat. It’s the fat that clings to your body in all the wrong places. Beige fat, on the other hand, is metabolic active. Unlike white fat,
that stores energy, beige fat burns calories.
[3] Slowing metabolism and rapid decline in muscle mass COMPOUND the issue
Your body isn’t burning calories like you used to because your BMR (basal metabolic rate) – which accounts for up to 70% of your total energy expenditure – is as low
as it has even been after 40…
On top of that, you’re also losing entire pounds of muscle mass. Up to 25% of your muscle mass could be gone by age 45 and more than half of your muscle mass could be gone by age 65. And pound for pound, muscle burns more than fat does EVERY single time.
So
these three age-related issues – more white fat cells in all the wrong places, a rapidly declining metabolism, and shrinking muscle mass – make it feel nearly impossible to shed weight, let alone fat, no matter how much you diet and exercise as you age.
Then there's the cravings...
It's a
vicious cycle. The frustration of no results = raiding the pantry or fridge and accumulating calories.
What if you no longer craved this stuff, though?
What would that do for you?
I mean - if you ate say, 800 calories less per day from cravings just 4 days a week, that would be nearly a pound of fat gone from your frame every 7 days.
That would be without changing anything
else.
Pretty eye-opening...
So that's why I wanted to share this (how to make eating less easier).
Later tater,
Mikey
