You know the old saying, "Losing weight is 90% diet, 10% exercise"?
What if it wasn't actually true?
For some people, training is no problem...
It's
their diet that's holding them back.
So typically what happens is they start dieting more...
More restrictions...
Eating even less...
But this leads to staying hungry. And it's no secret this leads to more frustration.
So, the question is - can you out-train a mediocre diet?
Can you get away with eating cookies every day?
Do you have to wait until a "cheat day" to have pizza or can you have pizza on a random Tuesday night with your family?
I can tell you YES simply because I live it. I lost and kept off 115lbs.
And even
though it's not "popular" to say this as a coach, my diet is mediocre (just ask my wife).
An example of this was Thursday. I had to help our oldest with a big History project, which was due Friday (shocking, I know). My meal prep was lacking to say the least (but I did get in a great workout)...
Lunch: Peanut butter/jelly sandwich, glass of milk, pretzels
Snack: Protein bar, handful of peanuts
Dinner: Tuna w/mayo, crackers, salad.
Then my wife's friend's daughter
made some homemade oatmeal creme pies. They were big, but I had two anyway.
Not a single fruit in sight, and only 1 lousy veggie. Whoops.
How do I "get away" with this?
I train smarter.
Take a look at this - in a study from the Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness, participants who used specialized training flooded their body with anti-aging and fat-burning hormones for 40 hours (much longer than the traditional 12-24 hours with
other exercise).
So by training smarter 3X a week, you're literally flooding your body with fat-burning hormones 24/7.
Plus...
Studies show training smarter tightens
loose, sagging skin including a study from the American Journal of Physiology.
So can you "out-train" a mediocre diet?
Yes you can, if you do it right.
Something for those that like to train but hate to diet
