"Kind" versus "wicked".

A concept coined in 1973.

Written to describe the nature of problems encountered in the field of urban planning and social policy design.

And, it turns out, relevant to your craft. 

"Kind" problems are well-defined, have clear boundaries, and are relatively easy to solve. 

Think, how do I learn to optimize our firms' CRM or what are the basic building blocks of our products?

"Wicked" problems are more ambiguous and lack crystal clear solutions. 

They are often characterized by changing circumstances, numerous stakeholders with conflicting interests, and a high degree of uncertainty. 

Wicked problems don't have a definitive answer, and solving them involves a process of learning and adaptation.

The list of wicked issues we encounter includes:
Great wholesalers understand the rigor needed to address kind issues, and the grace required when figuring out how to tackle those that are wicked.
