The most influential person in his life was his grandfather, from whom he learned valuable lessons, about life in general and working on farms. With his grandfather's passing, he decided to continue his grandfather's legacy of making an impact in rural Wisconsin. Meet Cole Meier, one of six recipients of
the WROF, Inc. Premier Award Program!
Cole's grandfather taught him many things, from feeding calves, to planting and harvesting crops, and working with
farm equipment. This was just the beginning, as Cole learned even more about agriculture working on nearby farms, vaccinating beef calves, mixing feed, making fences, tearing a barn down, and driving and operating large farm equipment. These experiences had an incredible impact on Cole's work ethic, self-confidence, and continued love for his rural community.
But it was really his grandfather who first exposed Cole to heavy machinery and outdoor work, and inspired Cole to begin a path to becoming a linesman. "I know my passion for honoring my grandpa's presence is why I am so committed to pursuing a career as a linesman," says Cole.
"I hope to continue to make my grandpa proud with my endeavors and academic pursuits."
Cole is looking forward this fall to his classes and hands-on
work at Southwest Technical College while preparing to become a linesman. In his spare time, Cole has also been enjoying this summer tractor pulling with Badger State Tractor Pullers. "My experience growing up surrounded by family and the ability to work on the family farms is something I greatly value, and I hope to leave a mark on Wisconsin agriculture as many have before me," says Cole. Thank you, Cole, for taking on the heroic role of a linesman and making a difference in rural
Wisconsin.
Please join us in congratulating Cole Meier!
