Before December winds down, I want to plant a seed that we can carry over from this year into the next: the power of silences and the deep possibilities that they offer.
When I was mulling over this SwaffWords© Blog, I was reminded of this wonderful quote by Theodore Roethke:
"May my silences become more accurate."
It struck me as such a powerful take on those moments that can seem all too awkward, out of place, unformed—those moments that we tend to rush into and out of, gloss over, or just avoid.
And yet, those moments are wonderful reminders (once again) to be truly present—regardless of when or how they may occur. When we dare to settle into them and allow them to take the lead, the path forward can become so much clearer.
Leaping in and out of silences limits possibilities and doesn't allow us to take full advantage of what the moment is offering and teaching us. There is an entire reset that gets short shrift when we don't allow Our Selves to settle into those "Silences" (2:43)
